A top price of £10,200 and a further 21 selling at £4000 and above were the main headlines from a timed online sale of sheepdogs through Farmers Marts, Dolgellau.

The sale of 155 working sheepdogs and pups was led by Kevin Evans' Rhysgog Sarah from Brecon. A full trained daughter of Red Spot, this bitch sold to an undisclosed buyer in Ayrshire.

Mr Evans also took £7700 for Beacons Lass, an 18-month-old bitch which sold to a new home in Co Meath, Ireland.

The second top priced lot also sold to Scotland when DW Davies' Foinaven Eve a farm and trial dog from Bryncrug, made £9000 to a sheepdog handler in Kelso.

Other top sellers included Mo, a daughter of Preseli Jock from LI Harries, Crymych, which made £7400 when purchased by a buyer in the USA, while D Bevan's Glen, a hill dog from Builth Wells, made £6900 to a new home in Gwent.

Partly trained dogs sold to £9100 for Cefneithin Roxy a daughter of Llanfarian Mirk, from SC Jones, Corwen, which headed home with a buyer in mid Wales.

Huntaways were also in demand and peaked at £7600 for Ivy, a full trained bitch from E Rees, Rhayader. Believed to be the most expensive Huntaway sold through the centre, she found a new home in Powys.

Mr Rees also took £3200 for Rimu, an 11-month-old dog by the newly imported Tone. Rimu sold to a buyer from Berwick upon Tweed.

Kevin Evans was back in the money selling the top priced pup at £2750. Topping this section was Rhydarw Rose, a four-month-old daughter of Midderry Frank which found a new home in Shetland.

By the end of the sale, trained entries averaged £3842; partly trained, £2100 and pups averaged £862. The sale averaged £2407 with an 81% clearance.
