The Stones family, Nun Cote Nook, secured both the champion and reserve at Darlington Farmers Auction Marts’ ‘John Norwood Spedding’ memorial show and sale of suckled calves.
The pre-sale supreme was their April born bullock, sired by the British Blue stock bull, Valley Optical, which went on to make £1420.
Both prize winners sold to T W West, Egremont.
The judge, R Mather of Picket How, awarded the runner up to the February born Limousin bullock, which realised £1450.
The sale of store cattle witnessed steers and heifers average £1130 (+£150) and £1059 (+£125) respectively.
Sale leader at £2000 was a British Blue bull from Eileen Wilson, White Hills Farm, Scorton. Aberdeen Angus from B and B Kitching and Son, Elstob Hill Cottage Farm led the steer trade when reaching £1850 whilst heifers sold to £1545 from Messrs Wilkinson and Son of Carrsides Farm, Rushyford.
Store lambs sold to £142 for Texel crosses from D and HM Hodgson, Dyke Nook.
