Orkney breeder, Colin Davidson’s reduction sale of the Skaill Aberdeen Angus herd saw 18 in-calf heifers cash in at £6277.78, with a 10,000gns high.

Sale leader was the April 2023-born heifer, Skaill Diana Z761, which was purchased by John and Marion Tilson and daughter Wanda of the Wedderlie herd, Gordon, Berwickshire. A daughter of Millah Murrah Kingdown, she is out of Skaill Diana T606, which goes back to Logie Politician. She sold PD’d in calf to Skaill Evelix.

Skaill Tibbie Z788 then realised 8800gns when the hammer fell to D and F Campbell, West Newton, Balquhancal, Glenfarg, selling in calf to the same service sire. This 18-month-old heifer is a daughter of Oneills Black Bardolier and out of the Skaill Eric daughter, Skaill Tribbie V019.

Netherton Farms, Mansergh, Cumbria, went to 8000gns for the May 2023-born heifer, Skaill Estella Z850. Another backed by home-bred genetics she is a Skaill Elite daughter, bred from Skaill Estella W203, and sold in calf to Skaill Legacy.

Not far behind on 7500gns was Skaill Estella Z733, a QHF West Coast SGR daughter, out of Skaill Estella T765. She sold in calf to Skaill Evelix X529, and was purchased by Robert Fleming, Castle Sinniness, Glenluce, Newton Stewart.

Two May 2023-born Skaill Elite X442 daughters then made 7000gns and 6500gns.

Dearest of the two was Skaill Diana Z878, which sold to North Yorkshire breeders, JD and JA Holgate, Hard Head, Rathmell. She is out of Skaill Diana X481, and sold in calf to Skaill Legacy.

Chris Timm, Pickering, North Yorkshire, bought the latter, Skaill Diana Z855, which ran with Skaill Errols Bardolier prior to the sale.
