AN exceptional entry for quality forward for the Border and Lakeland Holstein Club show and sale at Carlisle, saw milking females average just shy of £2500 with a top price of 4800gns.
Sale leader was the unshown Berryholme Lambda Dandy from the Wright family Berry Holme, Kendal. Bred from nine generations of Ex or VG-classified cows, this fresh heifer by Lambda boasts a fourth dam in the Ex96-classified prize winning Ingleview Rudolph Dandy. The heifer sold to Messrs Coulthurst, Goosnargh, Preston.

The same buyer also forked out 3800gns for David Howat’s Norwoodbrae Fitz Abbiene, from Ochiltree, Ayrshire, which was also unshown at the pre-sale show. Sired by Toc-Farm Fitz, she is bred from Enchanted Moxi Abbiene Ex91 with her granddam being a sister to the 2022 Great Yorkshire Champion Enchanted Beemer Abbiene.
Judge Neil Millar from Woodhousehill, Kirkpatrick Fleming, found his champion in Denmire Dumbledore Marie, consigned by the Dennison family from Scales Park Farm, Ulverston. Bred from their Marie cow family tracing back to four special Excellent cows that produced more than 100ton of milk lifetime, she made 2900gns selling to the judge.
David and Will Booth, Old Hall Farm, Lancs, produced the reserve winner in Feizor Adorable S Flo, a fresh heifer from Old Hall Farm in Lancashire. Flo is a daughter of Stantons Adorable and boasts three former national champion winners in her pedigree. She sold for 2800gns to Messrs Patterson from Ayrshire.
Matching that 2800gns price tag, David and Callum Gray, Drumtall, East Kilbride, sold Grayridge Amaretto Rachel – a potential 15th generation Excellent or Very Good-classifying cow tracing back to the DRA August cow family. She is sired by KCCK Amaretto Red and sold to Drumchapel Estate, Brechin.
Bulling heifers were topped at 2200gns for another from the Wright family’s Berryholme herd. Berryholme Adorable Armana, bred from 10 generations of dams classified VG or Excellent boasts a fourth dam in the All American winner Apple Ex96. She was purchased by Neil Sloan, Knowe, Ayrshire.
