More than 500 dairy cattle changed hands at the Borderway Monthly dairy day sale, Carlisle, where trade peaked at £3000.

Sale leader was Redcroft Arabia Lurinde from Thomas Blackwood, Lesmahgow, Lanark. This fresh calved heifer by Gold-N-Oaks Arabia sold giving 35kg a day to Messrs Davies, Abergele, Conwy. The dam is Redcroft Corinthian Lurinde.

Jim and David Gray, Drumtall, East Kilbride, sold Drointon Showtime Bloom for £2900 to Messrs Millar, Kirkpatrick Fleming, Lockerbie. Backed by 11 generations of VG and Ex dams, she is out of Drointon Crossfire Bloom, sired by Jacobs Showtime, and sold fresh, giving 30kg per day.

Messrs Davies, Abergele, were back in the buying seat for the next three at £2850 and £2800 twice. Dearest was Holehouse Jordy Tico Red from the Logan family, Holehouse, Ayrshire. Sired by McGucci Jordy Red, she is out of the Ex91-classified Holehouse Rager Tico Red, and she sold giving 38kg.

Doonvalley Moemoney Jess 2 was next at £2800 from Thomas Blackwood, Lade Head, Lesmahagow. A daughter of Bacon-Hill Moemoney 3320, she is out of Doonvalley Commend Jess.

Mr Davies also paid the same money for Kirtlevale Chief Dawn from DJ Livingstone, Kirtlevale, Gretna. Sired by Tantons Chief, she is out of Kirtlevale Goodwhone Dawn.

Also making £2800 was Kirtlevale Secretariat April 4 from the same home. Messrs Robinson, Lanercost, Brampton, were the final bidders on this All Nure Secretariat daughter.
