Texel shearlings from Nia Rainnie, Cobbleheugh, Dinnet, attracted the joint to price of £2400 at United Auctions’ show and sale of 359 multi-breed rams at Huntly.
The two rams, which were champion and reserve at the pre-sale show were purchased by Messrs Fraser, Auchnarrow, Glenlivet and Messrs Stanger, South Seatter, Orkney, respectively.
A crossing-type Bluefaced Leicester shearling was breed champion and reserve overall for Messrs Millican, Newton of Hassiewells, Rothienorman. It later sold for £1100 to Messrs Smith, Wester Coull, Tarland.
Runner up was the first prize MV accredited traditional-type Blue, a shearling from Messrs Fotheringham, Craighall, Peth, that made £1200 to Messrs Mutch, Cranna View, Aberchirder.
William and John Brown, Hilton of Culsh, New Deer, produced the Suffolk champion, a shearling which later sold for £1700 to Messrs MacIver, Wester Coltfield, Forres, while the reserve, a ram lamb from S and S Wilson, Bogs of Paithnick, Grange, made £1000, selling to the Allan family, Goryhill, Glenkindie.
