Limousin cross heifers took both the champion and reserve honours at Harrison and Hetherington's suckled calves show and sale, and went on to secure the top prices of £2600 and £2800 respectively.

Topping the sale at £2800 was the reserve overall champion from Messrs Atkinson, Demense, Whitehaven which was purchased by Messrs Priestley, Cracrop, Brampton.

The judge, Michael Kirby awarded his champion to the first prize Limousin heifer from Messrs Robertson, Newton of Logierait, Pitlochry, which later sold for £2600 to Messrs McKinnel, Garrarie Farm, Newton Stewart.

An increased number of 408 weaners were forward having realised £1800 for an Aberdeen Angus bull from Messrs Gair, Low House.

Limousin cross bullocks from Messrs Mews, Glendue, made £1380, whilst heifers achieved £1280 on several occasions, firstly for Hereford crosses from Messrs Moffat and Partners, Thornby Villa, and then twice for Limousin crosses from Messrs Wigham, Riggshields and Wadsworth Farming.

The weekly sale of 311 calves sold to £670 for a British Blue bull from AV Elwen, Netherfield, Irthington.

Heifers peaked at £510 for a Limousin from Boreland of Colvend, Dalbeattie.
