A four-year-old roan cow and her third calf, topped Duncan Welsh’s Westbroad Beef Shorthorn herd dispersal at Stirling, when selling for 6500gns.
The pedigree herd from Westbroad Moss, Fenwick, Kilmarnock, which was established in 2006, was led by Westbroad Yoga Poppy, a polled daughter of Shawhill Leroy. She is out of the GP84-classified Westbroad Yoga 7, by Meonhill Charlie Chaplin and changed hands with her May-born heifer calf, Westbroad Yoga Vaz, a Coxhill Rebel daughter. The hammer fell to Iain Green and family, Corskie, Fochabers, Garmouth.
Selling at 6000gns down to Wales with Messrs Evans and Price, of the Llwynhywel herd from Llanilar, Aberystwyth, was the five-year-old roan cow, Westbroad Rosette 9. Sired by Shawhill J-A-T and out of previous home-bred VG89 Rosette by Hallsford Dominic, she sold with her fourth calf, Westbroad Vito, a May-born bull also by Coxhill Rebel.

Members of the Rosette family sold particularly well, with her daughter, Westbroad Rossette Sophie, a two-year-old roan by Millerston Paymaster, leading the in-calf heifers at 4200gns. She sold scanned in calf to Napoleon of Upsall, to Hugh Stewart, Upper Kidston, Eddleston, Peebles.
Fiona Davidson who owns the Fordie herd from Mintlaw, Fraserburgh, forked out 5500gns for the six-year-old twin-born cow, Westbroad Meadowsweet VG86 and her May-born heifer calf, Meadowsweet Victori. The cow is another by Shawhill J-A-T and her calf a Rebel daughter.
Also heading home on the same lorryload to Mintlaw at 4200gns was Westbroad Rosette 7, a six-year-old Galla Jackpot-sired cow out of Rosette 3. She changed hands with her May-born bull calf by Rebel.

Her dam, the nine-year-old cow, Westbroad Rosette 3 VG89, a daughter of Hallsford Dominic out of Gregors Rosette, made 5500gns, selling to an undisclosed buyer. Rosette sold with her eighth calf, Vernon, a bull by Rebel.
Making 4200gns when selling down to Biggar with T and R Harper, South Mains, Skirling, was the four-year-old red cow, Westbroad Delilia Paisley, another by J-A-T. She changed hands with her second calf, a May-born heifer daughter of Rebel.
The seven-year-old stock bull, Shawhill Leroy which was bought at the Stirling Bull Sales in 2018 for 12,000gns after standing pre-sale champion, topped the males when selling for 4000gns. Bred by Messrs Thomson, Roddick and Laurie, this roan bull is sired by Shawhill Henderson and sold to Rattray Estates, Rattray, Peterhead, Aberdeenshire.
Averages: 32 cows and calves at foot, £3485; seven in-calf heifers, £3345; 11 maiden heifers, £2864; nine bulls, £2602.
