A strong entry of 110 working sheepdogs and pups sold through a timed online sale via Farmers Marts, Dolgellau, resulted in an 83% clearance and an average of £2582.

No fewer than 20 lots sold for £4000 or more and to a top of £9800 for Drift, a fully trained and or trials bitch from J Shanks, Morvern, purchased by an undisclosed buyer from Cumbria.

Topping the partly trained section at £8300 was Cefneithin Gypsy from SC Jones, Corwen. Cefneithin Gypsy is sired by Llanfarian Mirk, and found a new home in Sweden.

Sidan Zarah, another partly trained bitch from D Howells, Port Talbot, made £6500, selling to a sheep farmer in the Netherlands.

Huntaways were also in the money, selling to £7600 and £7500. First was Beau, a 10-month-old from E Rees, Rhayader, which is believed to be the most expensive Huntaway dog sold at auction in the UK. Beau found a new home in Lanarkshire.

Selling at £7500 was Fern, a bitch from the same litter, but consigned by O Jenkins, Trefeglwys. She sold to a sheep farmer in North Wales.

Other top sellers saw Mainstay Meg, a fully trained bitch from M Edwards, Swansea, make £6900, selling to an undisclosed buyer from the Faroe Islands.

Just behind, on £6700, Ted, a rising two-year-old dog from R Owen, Brecon, was bought by a sheep farmer on the Isle of Skye.

Also in the mix at £6500 was D Davies’ Clyde, from Eisteddfa Fawr. This fully trained two-year-old pure-bred working beardie, found a new home in Powys.

Kevin Evans, Brecon, sold the lead priced pup, Nell, at £2550.
