Lurg Kim K, a January-born ET-bred ewe lamb from Aberdeenshire breeder Alan Miller, proved the star attraction at the Beltex Beauties sale at Carlisle, when selling for the top price of 6000gns.

The collective sale from eight breeders which included the final dispersal of the Woodwick flock, was led by a daughter of last year’s 14,000gns Pager Jackpot. The dam, Lurg Honour, a Buckles Dark Dawn-sired ewe was first at the Royal Highland as a ewe lamb. Kim K was knocked down to Graeme and Finn Christie, Inverurie with the vendor retaining a half share.

Lurg also took 3000gns for Lurg Jelly Baby, an ET gimmer an full sister to the 50,000gns Lurg Goliath and 45,000gns Lurg Grand Slam. Bred from Sinclair’s Daisy and sired by Woodies Explosive, she was knocked down to the Page Farm Partnership, Ripon.

Gimmers peaked at 5500gns for Richard Wood and his father John’s Kingledores Journee ET, from Tweedsmuir, Broughton, Biggar. Bred from the Clary Ablaze daughter, Kingledores Betty Boo and sired by Curwen Hill George, Journee headed home with Kevin Buckles and sons Tom and Jack, Buckles Farm, Kirkby Stephen.

Her full ET sister, Kingledores Juliette then made 3000gns selling to Harry Wood, Popes Farm, Preston.

Another three ET gimmers sold at 5000gns to include the Northern Ireland National champion, Matt’s Jelly Beans from Matthew Burleigh, Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh. Her pedigree features the Murrays Expert-sired dam, Matt’s Glassware and Muirton High and Mighty. Jelly Beans sold to Liam Swinnerton of the Lipley flock from Shropshire.

Mr Burleigh also took 3000gns from Mark Wattie, Mains of Tonley, Alford, for Matt’s Jypsy Girl, a natural-born gimmer by Buckles Fizzy Pop.

Grant Maxwell’s show gimmer from the Faughhill flock from Melrose, was another to hit the 5000gns bracket. Faughhill J-Lo, the sixth prize gimmer at the Royal Highland and an ET bred from Faughhill Full Swing – a daughter of the 8000gns home-bred Elephant in the Room – and sired by the 11,000gns Kingledores Godzilla, sold jointly to Kingledores and Lurg.

Also hitting 5000gns was one of the last daughters of Gyffin Dexter to be sold from the Buckles flock. Buckles Jenifer, an ET bred from the Grangehall Beckham daughter, Wilodge Danielle, headed home with Messrs Van Geffen, Carlton In Cleveland, North Yorkshire.

Just behind, on 4500gns Woodwick Jewel, a gimmer from the final dispersal of Raymond Flaws’ Orkney-based flock was knocked down to Messrs Hall, Carlisle. Jewel, a triplet-born entry is sired by Hackney Gerwyn and out of Woodwick Golddigger.

Another show gimmer from Elizabeth McAllister’s Artnagullion flock from Kells, Ballymena, Co Antrim, made 4200gns selling to Jimmy Bell, Carluke. Artnagullion Jackdaw, an ET-bred from the Ardstewart Armani-sired Artnagullion Daisy, is sired by Edendiack Hitman.

Top price for Stuart Wood’s Aberdeenshire-based Woodies flock was 3500gns paid for Woodies Jewel in the Crown, a Vicky’s Gladiator-sired gimmer bred from Buckles Ginger Rose. The buyer was Rosie Boden buying for the Sportsmans flock from Stockport, Cheshire.

* Omitted from the Premier Beltex show and sale report at Carlisle, GL Riby and Son, sold four shearlings from their Stonehills flock from Low Fraisthorpe, to a top of 3800gns to average £1732.50.
