Aberdeenshire-based Willie and John Brown, Hilton of Culsh, New Deer, topped Dingwall and Highland Marts' sale of 2475 breeding sheep with two pens of Texel cross gimmers that realised £310 and £300.

The father and son duo also sold the lead priced Beltex at £265 and £250, respectively.

The show and sale of pens of 20 Cheviot Mule gimmers, was won entries from Willie and Heather Stewart, Newmore. The pen which was bought last year here from Messrs Bradley, Tillyminate, made £270 to Messrs Munro, Pitkerrie, who were buying the champion pen for the third year in succession.

Willie and Heather Stewart, judged the ewe lambs and found their winners in a pen of 20 from Messrs Bradley, Tillyminate who were claiming their first championship here. The pen later sold for £235 per head.

Scotch Mule gimmers sold to £215 from Sandy Douglas, Achnamoine, Caithness, with ewe lambs peaking at £165 for entries from first time consigners Glenavon Estate from the hills of Tomintoul.

Overall, 245 Cheviot Mule gimmers (245) averaged £220 having sold to £270 from 1 Newmore, Muir of Ord with other breed gimmers (644) cashing in at £144.05 from a lead bid of £310 Texel crosses from Hilton of Culsh.

Cheviot Mule ewes (25) levelled at £100, selling to £120 from East Cowbeg Farm, Fraserburgh, other ewes (289) averaged £99.89 and sold to £170 gross for a Bluefaced Leicester from Bella Croft, Arabella.

Cheviot Mule ewe lambs (797) cashed in at £146.21 having sold to £235 from Tillyminate and 329 other breed lambs, levelled at £109.02, peaking at £220 for a Blue Texel from Inverbay, Lower Arboll.
