Dumfries

C and D Auction Marts had forward 762 lambs at their sale where a Texel topped the trade at £165 from RW Nairn, Shieldhill and at 332p per kg from W Slaven and Son, Foregirth. Cast sheep sold to £185 for Texel ewes from Newton Bungalow.

Longtown

An entry of 3002 lambs forward by C and D Auction Marts saw an average of 302.8p per kg with Beltex topping the sale at 410p from JA and LA Thompson, Woodhead, Scaleby. Price per head reached £213 for Suffolks from GT Beattie, Guardsmill, Gretna. Cast sheep (3742) sold to £295 for Texel ewes from A and HC Smith, Crumhaughhill, Hawick. Cast cattle peaked at 198p for a Luing from Tanlawhill Farming, Lyneholm and to £1693 for Beef Shorthorns from A Roskell and Partners, Laverhay, Moffat.

Stirling (UA)

United Auctions sold 7967 sheep comprising of 4948 lambs and 2611 cast sheep. New season lambs averaged 301.02p per kg and sold to 338p for Beltex from Easterton, West Lethans, and Woodhead of Aberdalgie. Price per head sold to £172 for Texels from Luckenburn. Cast sheep peaked at £240 for Texel ewes from South Flanders.

Heifers and bullocks averaged 312.56p and 291.93p per kg respectively at the Caledonian Marts sale. Heifers (24) sold to 322p for a Limousin from A Kennedy, Seggarsdean, Haddington and to £2010 for a Limousin from Skeoch Farm, Stirling. Bullocks (17) reached 335p for a Limousin from W Dandie and Son, Learielaw, Broxburn and £2199 for a Limousin from J Collier and Son, Dullomuir, Fife. Ten young bulls averaged 250.69p and sold to 278p for a Limousin from Messrs Kirk and Calvert-Smith, Oatfield, Campbeltown and to £1965.60 for a Hereford from Harvey Brothers, 100 Buchanan Street, Balfron. Cast cattle topped at 292p or £2400 for a British Blue from MJ Stark, Bluebell, Milton of Campsie. Aberdeen and Northern Marts had forward 2563 sheep at their sale which saw 1458 lambs average 289p per kg. Topping the trade were 42kg Texel crosses at 327p from Newton of Logierait, Pitlochry and 72kg Suffolks at £163 from North Chapelhouses, Oldmeldrum. Cast sheep averaged £97.74 and sold to £250 for Texels from Belnoe, Chapeltown. Bullocks (14) averaged 266.4p and sold to 298p or £2176.20 for a 705kg Limousin cross from Daies, Wardhouse. Heifers (19) averaged 296.2p and sold to 326p for a 575kg Limousin from Anfield, Mains of Tonley and to £2286.90 for a 770kg Limousin cross from Braebuster, Deerness. Young bulls (13) averaged 249.5p and reached 264p for a 605kg Stabiliser cross from Kirkside, Banff and to £2425.50 for a 1050kg Charolais from Mains of Lundie Farm, Edzell. Some 153 cattle and 1830 sheep forward at the Darlington Farmers Auction Mart sale saw 1399 lambs average 308p per kg. Beltex topped the trade at 393p from JC Hope and Son, Cornhow Farm, Cockermouth with price per head selling to £187 for 59kg lambs from A and EJ Dobinson, Stone View, Winston. Cast sheep averaged £117.54 and peaked at £240 for a continental ewe from Cornhow Farm. Bullocks averaged 312p and sold to 336p from P and N Tattersall, Town Farm, Ellerton and to £2420 for a 747kg Limousin from R Miller, Arkleby Hall, Cumbria. Lawrie and Symington sold 178 cattle comprising of 44 bullocks and heifers and 134 cast cattle. Limousin heifers sold to 340p per kg or £2122 from Brockwoodlees Farm with Limouisn bullocks selling to 320p from Balquharrage Farm or £2086 from Walkerdyke Farm. Young bulls sold to £2112 or 308p from Collielaw Farm with cast cattle reaching £2300 for a Limousin bull from Bushelhead or 231p for a Limousin cross cow from Dreva Farm. Some 3841 lambs averaged 301p and sold to 408p for Beltex from Cumberhead and £198 for a Texel from Westmains Farm. Cast sheep (1753) sold to £278 for a Texel ewe from Laga Farms.

Ayr

An entry of 2892 sheep forward at Craig Wilson’s sale saw 2137 lambs average 292p per kg and sell to 331p for Beltex from Messrs Kay, Gass and to £174 for Suffolks from Messrs McFarlane, Clonbeith. Cast sheep reached £241 for a Texel ewe from A Meikle, Helentongate. Heifers (14) averaged 307.49p and sold to 338p for a Limousin from The Sloan Family, Dormieston with two bullocks averaging 286.59p and selling to 321p for a Limousin from Borland Farm. Four young bulls averaged 267p and peaked at 288p for a British Blue from Messrs Stevenson, Balcaimie. Cast cattle (176) sold to £2100 for both a Limousin bull from Messrs Montgomerie, Assloss and a Charolais cow from Messrs Robb, Chalmerston.

Dingwall

Dingwall and Highland Marts sold 1189 sheep with 467 new season lambs selling to 302p per kg for a 46kg Charollais cross and a pair of 44kg Texel crosses both from Ord Farm, Invergordon. Price per head sold to £152 for a 55kg Texel cross from Druid Temple Farm, Inverness. Cast sheep reached £218 for a Beltex ewe from 25 Camaultmuir, Kiltarlity. Three bullocks averaged 303p and sold to 304p both for a 640kg Simmental cross from Shoreton Farms, Culbokie and a 640kg Charolais cross from Groam, Kirkhill with a 650kg Aberdeen Angus cross achieving £1956.50 also from Kirkhill. Three heifers averaged 301.4p and sold to 306p for 590kg Charolais cross from Kirkhill and to £1976.50 for a 670kg Charolais cross from Shoreton Farms.
