Aghavilly Zelda, a ewe lamb from Northern Irish breeder, Glenn Baird, Co Armagh, secured the top price of 2000gns at a show and sale of pedigree Bleu du Maine and Millennium Bleu sheep at Carlisle.

Third in the pre-sale show, this January-born lamb is a daughter of Calla Jumping Jack and is out of the show ewe, Aghavilly Victoria Beckham. She was knocked down to Messrs Pickford, Mersham, Ashford.

Her full sister, which stood second in her class, Aghavilly Zendaya, made 1800gns to Messrs Percival, Belper, Derbyshire.

Leading the gimmers at 1600gns was the first prize winner Willpower You Can’t Catch Me, from Will Price, Horton Villa, Horton, Wem, Shropshire. Messrs Jones, Talsarnau, Gwynydd, got for their money the first female sired by Aghavilly What’sApp, bred from Perdi Sophia. The same buyer also purchased the second prize gimmer at 1600gns from Lanarkshire breeder Kenny O’Connor, Carnwath. Skye Bleu Yara, the reserve female at the Great Yorkshire Show, is a daughter of Maximum William and out of Skye Bleu Vicky.

Top price among the males was 1500gns paid twice. First was the second prize shearling Danygraig Yoda, from Dylan and Caio Jones, Danygraig, Llandrindod Wells.

Sired by Danygraig Valentino, he is out of the Randalstown Showman daughter Inveresk Take A Hint and sold to Messrs Wyllie, Kinnordy, Kirriemuir. The pre-sale champion, Maximum Zafonic, made the same money for Sally Shone, Sheriton, Malpas, Cheshire. Judge Neil Millar of the Joyfield flock, Lockerbie, backed his decision and purchased this January-born ram lamb son of Haydon VIP, out of Maximum Sherbet.

Kenny O’Connor was back in the money when he sold the pre-sale champion Millennium Bleu for the top price of 1400gns. His shearling ram, Skye Bleu Yankee by Broughton Enricher, was champion at Carnwath Show and sold to Barrie Farms, Elsrickle, Biggar.
