A BRITISH Blue cross heifer from Mark Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth, took overall cattle championship at Harrison and Hetherington's 50th anniversary primestock show and sale at Borderway Mart, Carlisle.
Judged by father-and-son duo Jimmy and Connor Mulholland of R and JP Mulholland Butchers, Great Orton, Carlisle, the title was awarded to a 646kg heifer which went on to sell for the top price per kg of 345p or £2228.7.
Reserve was the first prize Limousin heifer from Messrs Crichton, Loughrigg, Egremont. It weighed in at 777kg and sold for £2575.76, or 331p.
A pair of 48kg Beltex from Messrs Musgrave, Cardew Hall secured the championship honours among the sheep and went on to top the section at £560, or 1167p, selling to the judges.
Reserve was a pair of Dutch Texels from Messrs Wigham, Hargill House. The first prize any other continental pair scaled 46kg and sold for £300 or 652p.
