PRICES peaked at 3350gns for a show gimmer at the dispersal of Nicky Smith and Simon Norman’s Haydon flock of Bleu Du Maine from Taunton, Somerset.

The sale at Worcester was topped by Haydon Yoyo, a daughter of the flock sire Perdi Singy Boy, bred from Perdi Stelar.

Reserve breed champion at the Royal Three Counties Show this year, she, along with a few other lots, were knocked down to R Pilkington, Hope, Wrexham.

Joining her on the way home to Wrexham was Haydon Yola, another gimmer that made 3000gns. By Ballytaggart Wing Man and out of Haydon Vanessa, a Perdi Topspec daughter, she stood reserve champion at the Royal Welsh last year as a lamb and breed champion at the Royal Bath and West this year.

Her dam, Haydon Vanessa, bred from another Perdi-bred female, made 1650gns selling back down to Somerset with Steve and Rachel Stamp, Highbridge.

Ewe lambs reached 1800gns for a Maximum Yeats daughter out of the Maximum Orinoco daughter, Haydon Trixie. She caught the eye of Tom Stayt, Chipping Norton, Oxon.

Selling up to Aberdeenshire and Callum Cruden, Standingstones, Dyce, to 1500gns was Haydon Valentina, an aged ewe by Singy Boy and a full sister to the top priced gimmer.

Just behind on 1300gns, Kerri McDermid bought another ewe by the same sire but bred from Haydon Sweet Pea, to take back to her flock based at New Cumnock, Ayrshire.

Leading ram lamb trade at 1000gns was Haydon Zain, a son of Maximum Yeats, out of Haydon Vanessa.

She sold along with the two top-priced females to R Pilkington.
