A total of 575 lambs were forward for C and D Auction Marts’ sale where a top price of £170 was achieved for Texels from Messrs Wilson, Tinwald Shaw and 356p for more of the same from Messrs Sloan, Rigghead.

Cast sheep sold to £218 for Beltex tups from 1 Mallyford.

Longtown

Some 4314 sheep forward at C and D Auction Marts’ sale saw 1872 lambs average 316p per kg having sold to 454p or £220 for Beltex from CJ Roots, Kilnford Croft.

Cast sheep reached £305 for a Texel ewe from WK Duthie, Woodside of Chapelton, Brechin.

Cast cattle sold to 193p and £1302 for Shorthorn cows from Meikle Whitriggs Farms, Corrie.

United Auctions sold 4902 sheep at their sale comprising 3095 new season lambs and 1807 cast sheep.

Lambs averaged 308.75p per kg having sold to 365p for Beltex from West Park and to £184 for Suffolks from South Flanders.

Cast sheep reached £300 for Texel ewes from Tillyrie.

Some 54 prime cattle forward forward for Caledonian Marts’ sale saw 22 heifers average 298.86p per kg having sold to 322p for Limousins from M Jack, Carriston, A Kennedy Seggarsdean, and A Pettigrew, Faskine, or £1991 for M Jack.

Bullocks (28) averaged 284.07p and sold to 318p for a Limousin from FC Eccles, Bruckley and to £2173 for another of the same from AA and J Brand, Nethermyres.

Four young bulls sold to 270p or £2187 for a Limousin from R Graham, Airthrey Kerse.

Cast cattle reached 243.3p or £1810 for a Limousin from A Kennedy.

On Tuesday, 966 lambs averaged 311.02p having sold to 405p for a pair of Texels from JW Harrison, Auchtygemmell, Lanark or £184 for Texels from P Cooper and Sons, Govals, Forfar.

Bullocks and heifers averaged 294p and 300p per kg at the Harrison and Hetherington sale on Monday.

Ten young bulls averaged 230p having sold to 298p and £2008.52 from Ramrig.

Bullocks sold to £2214.77 for a 711kg Limousin cross from Messrs Sisson, Fenton, Brampton or 315.5p for another 661kg entry of the same breed cross from Messrs Lawson, Hundith House, Wigton.

Young bulls (90) reached £3051.16 or 320.5p for a 952kg British Blue from Beth Hill, Woodend, Lanarkshire.

Cast cattle (229) sold to £2165 for an 868kg Limousin cow from Messrs Watret, Northfield and to 291.5p for a 627kg Limousin cow from Duncrahilll Farm House.

Lambs reached £230 or 561p for 41kg Beltex from Cardew Hall.

Cast sheep (565) averaged £123.89 and sold to £312 for a Texel ewe from IC Gilmour, Humeston.

On Tuesday, five bullocks averaged 303.09p and sold to 323p for a Limousin from The Thomson Family, Blairbowie.

Heifers (15) averaged 301.03p and sold to 326p for a Limousin from Borland and the three young bulls averaged 244.97p having sold to 250p for a Limousin from South Hourat.

Cast cattle (114) were topped at £1940 for an Aberdeen Angus cow from Braehead, Arran.

Lambs (446) averaged 300p per kg at the United Auctions’ sale selling to 341p for 45.5kg Beltex from Mains of Culsh, New Deer and to £159 for 55kg Texels from 18 Richmond Gardens, Rhynie.

Cast sheep sold to £240 for Texel ewes from Wedderburn, Huntly.

Dingwall

Dingwall and Highland Marts sold 587 sheep and 12 head of cattle at their sale on Tuesday, where 379 lambs sold to 311p and £146 for 49kg Texel crosses from Home Farm, Aberlour.

Cast sheep sold to £210 for a Charollais ram from Free Farm, Tomatin. Ten bullocks averaged 304p having sold to 310p or £1906.50 for a 615kg Limousin cross from Findon Farms, Culbokie. Heifers reached 301p or £1730.75 for a 575kg Limousin cross from Groam, Kirkhill.

Castle Douglas

At Wallets Marts’ sale on Tuesday, 1440 lambs averaged 318.88p per kg having sold to 365.3p for Beltex from Messrs Sturgess, Cullinaw, or £170 for Texels from Messrs Gold, Rosneath and Messrs Jack, Dornellls.

Cast sheep reached £193 for Texel ewes from Messrs Watson, Slatehouse.

Kirkby Stephen

Harrison and Hetherington had forward 2943 sheep at their sale consisting of 2018 new season lambs and 925 cast sheep. Beltex crosses topped the trade at 422.5p per kg for a pair of 49kg lambs from Charlotte and Georgia Davies, Top Field Farm. Price per head sold to £210 for a pair of 53kg Dutch Texel cross lambs from Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside. Cast sheep reached £265 for a pair of Texel ewes from Messrs Wilkinson, Bollihope Shield, Bishop Auckland.
