More than £380,000 changed hands at at a major reduction sale of the Whiteford family's Middle herd of Ayrshire and Red and White dairy cattle, where prices peaked at 3900gns for a second calver.
Topping the trade was Middle Jean KM 2, sired by Whiteflat King Marty which was bred from the three times UK Dairy Expo champion, Changue Martha Ex95. Classified VG86 as a three-year-old, and bred from the Ex90 Middle Jean Kj, she sold to the owners of that Martha cow, Mungo and Callum Bryson of the Whiteflat herd, Catrine, Ayrshire. Jean calved at the end of February and sold served at the end of May to Troutbeck Progress.
Richard Danforth, Walton Lodge Farm, Wighill, North Yorkshire, forked out 3300gns for Middle Marigold E VG87-3yr, another second calver, this time sired by Middle Ellard and out of Middle Marigold Be Ex90. She changed hands served to Troutbeck Show Stopper.

Middle Jean MH 14 VG85-3yr, also in her second made 3100gns selling down to Wales with DS and GM Pryce and Sons, Coed Mawr, Deytheur. For their money they get a Middle Hero daughter out of the Ex90-classified Middle Jean Mfl
Fresh heifers sold to 3000gns for Middle Princess TSS, a Troutbeck Show Stopper daughter purchased by Messrs Logan, Holehouse, Kilbirnie, Ayrshire. She is bred from a previous home-bred GP83-classifed Princess.
Also heading north at 2800gns and 2650gns were Middle Snowbell HSS GP83 and Middle Margie MH. The former, which calved her first in March, is sired by Harperfield Spirit of Scotia and sold served to Middle Emjest. The buyers were Messrs Halliwell, Carrutherstown, Dumfries.
John Templeton, Airtnoch, Waterside, Kilmarnock, bought the 2650gns lot, a a fresh second calver by Middle Hero.
