Solid entries and a noteworthy trade was witnessed across all sectors at a Saturday Agri-Trader and livestock collective sales at Skipton where trade peaked at £5700 for a rowing up machine.

The machinery, vehicle and implements section featured 262 lots, and saw other sales of £4100 for a spreader, £3600 and £2700 for trailers, £2500 for a livestock box, £2000 for a horse trailer and the same price for a quad bike.

The 67 stone and timber items peaked at £380 for a double stone trough, a mixed stone pallet commanding £300, and a single gate post £200. In addition, 352 many and varied lots saw a lawn mower make £530, a hay steamer £500, two post boxes £130 each, a dolly tub £78 and a milk churn £75.

The monthly collective sale of stirks, weaned calves and young store cattle attracted a strong entry of 248 head.

Top prices in this section was £1300 for a Hereford cross from Kevins Farm, Rossendale.

Other principal prices were £1240 paid for a Limousin cross again from Kevins Farm while, an Aberdeen Angus from CJ Dews, Wakefield, realised £1010.

Also catching the eye at £1140 was an Angus cow with Australian Lowline calf from T and G McGarrell, Earby.

The sale of 32, dairy-bred 10-month-old British Blue bulls from R Falshaw and Son, Gisburn, reached £950, with hard-farmed entries making £600-£780 for a Shorthorn from Wharfedale’s JR Sayer, Askwith.

Steers sold to joint highs of £960 for a Limousin from WT Metcalfe, Burtersett, Hawes, and a Hereford from Lee Daley, Spennymore, Co Durham with black and whites to £780 from M and AB Wood, Cleckheaton.
