A partly trained bitch topped Farmers Mart’s Dolgellau timed online sale of working dogs when selling for £7600.

Jen, a 14-month-old from Medwyn Evans, Pencefn Uchaf, Dolgellau, has already been run at trials and found a new home in the USA.

Another from the same good home made £5500 selling to Norway. This was Sian, a three-year-old black and white bitch by Clwyd Bob. Sian represented Wales in the Four Nations nursery trail in 2022 and 2023 having twice finished fourth in the Wales Nursery final.

Fully trained dogs sold to £6300 for Bronallt Doug, a November 2021-born dog from Mike Edwards, Swansea. Eligible for this year’s nurseries, Doug made it into a strong Glamorgan nursery team last year and narrowly missed out getting into the South Wales team. He sold to a flock master in Devon.

Littleheath Evie, a four-year-old black and white bitch, from Dyfed Davies, Crymych, made £4700 when selling to a new home in Gwynedd,Wales.

Three top dogs sold to Scotland. Dearest of those at £5000 was R Lewis’ partly trained Wilden Pip, a February 2022-born bitch from Ceredigion. Pip found a new home in Shetland.

Welshman, Ross Games’ Moss, a fully trained six-year-old litter mate to Kevin Evans’ well known Red Spot, made £4600 selling to a sheep farmer in Lanarkshire.

And, heading up to Perthshire at £4050 was Mali, a fully trained four-year-old bitch by Kevin Evan’s Tanhill Glen from Tom O Sullivan, Glebe, Co Kerry.

The sale of 95 head achieved a 63% clearance with trained dogs averaging £3235; partly trained entries cashing in at £2276 while pups averaged £1243.
