Bullocks (96) and heifers (105) averaged 286.18p per kg and 271.89p respectively at United Auctions' store cattle sale.

Bullocks sold to 319.4p for a 468kg Charolais from Bougang, and to £1880 for a 756kg Aberdeen Angus from Nethertown.

A 488kg Limousin from Gasconhall, led the heifers at 315.6p, whilst a 628kg Aberdeen Angus made £1695 for Balsaggart.

Young bulls (29) cashed in at 225.1p having sold to 261.5p for a 260kg British Blue from Dyke and to £1000 for a 423kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Hillotown.

Also forward were 386 breeding cattle, with various dispersals, a top price of £2700 was paid for Simmental heifers from Floors Farming.

Sale topper at £1840 was a Limousin cross bullock from Messrs Holliday and Graham, Bolton Wood Lane, Wigton.

Heifers peaked at £1820 for an Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Grieve, Whiteside, Hexham.

The weekly sale of weaned cattle peaked at £1700 for Limousin bulls from Messrs Hensall, Sarkshields. British Blue heifers sold to £1330 for Messrs Bunting, Bridgestone, with the same breed topping the bullocks at £1170 for Messrs Browell, Quarry House.

A Charolais bull led the calves at £620 for Connell Farms, having cashed in at £348.26.

Heifers topped at £560 for Aberdeen Angus from Connell Farms, Wigtownshire, having averaged £323.70.

On Monday, the weekly sale of ewes with lambs at foot at Borderway mart topped at £140 per life for a Beltex cross gimmer with twin Beltex lambs at foot from A W Hague, Frizington.

The same breed led the heifers at £1600 and 327p for High Threave.

On Tuesday, the firm sold five dairy cattle to a top of £2000 for a fresh calved Holstein Friesian heifer from Messrs Steel, Ditton.

A smaller show of 65 calves and stirks reached £980 for an Aberdeen Angus cross bullock stirk from G and G Templeton, Knowe, and to £970 for a heifer of the same breed from A Dalgleish, Drummullan.

Calves peaked at £590 on three separate occasions all off Lynch Farms, East Brockloch for two British Blue cross bulls and one British Blue cross heifer.
