In-milk dairy cattle averaged £2392 at Gisburn Auction Marts’ third dairy sale of the month, where prices peaked at £3100 and £3000.
Sale leader was the pre-sale champion from M and J Bristol, Newton-in- Bowland. Claremont Almamater Adona 2 a fresh heifer is by a Westcoast sire out of a Claynook Denim-sired dam.
Ripon vendors Jennings Farmers took £3000 for a Stantons Adorable-sired heifer giving 32kg. Abbeyhouse Kathy is bred from a high fat and protein Brody dam and an Ex91-classified granddam.
Three pedigree heifers made £2920 of which two were consigned by GD Donkin of the Copdon herd, Copster Green, Blackburn.

First up was a Peak Altaamulet daughter from the Pretzel family followed by Peak Altagopro-sired heifer from the Better family.
The third at this price was a Hollinshall heifer from RC and SW Beecroft, Killinghall, Harrogate. She is sired by Stantons Adorable.
Messrs Beecroft sold two at £2900 apiece – an Attico Red daughter, and a Larcrest Atomic-Red-sired heifer from the Primrose family.
Top price amongst the unregistered cattle was £2420 paid for a heifer from HJ and KL Blackwell, Gargrave.
Averages: Pedigree – Newly calved cows, £2245; newly calved heifers, £2658; in-calf heifers £1595; bulling heifers £905; maidens, £595; heifer stirks, £545.
Non-pedigree – Newly calved heifers, £1960; in-calf heifers £1740.
