A red and white in-calf heifer led the proceedings at the June dairy young stock sale staged at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, when selling for £2000.

Selling at this price was Nethervalley Unstopabull Rosanne Red from Robbie and Margo Scott, Shacklehill, Mossblown, Ayr. A daughter of Blythbridge Vray, out of Vetech Deman Sunlight VG89, she sold six months in calf to an Aberdeen Angus sire to Messrs Borland, Mauchline.

Messrs Connolly, Port Logan, Stranraer, gave £1850 twice for Holstein Friesian cows from R Byers, Woodslee, Canonbie, who is dispersing through the monthly Dairy Day sales here. First at this money was the 2021-born, Esk Shilling Fiona, sired by BB DG Shilling, out of Esk Milo Fiona. The similarly aged cow, Esk Brilliant Rosebud TH, sired by Inch Brilliant, and out of Esk Rosebud 2, matched the £1850 price tag. The same home sold Esk Brilliant Rosebud 2 TH for £1850 to Messrs Gribbon, Cardenbridge, Dumfries. This similarly aged daughter of Inch Brilliant, is out of Esk Rosebud 2.

Esk Brilliant Stirkie, also by Brilliant and out of Esk Nadal Stirkie, then made £1750 when finding a new home with Messrs Nicolson, Moorhouse, Carlisle.

The youngstock dispersal from the Shorne British Friesian herd of NW and RW Boyd, Middle Morrey, Whitchurch, who are moving up to Alton Farm, Drummore, Stranraer, peaked at £1020 for the October 2022-born heifer Shorne Cameo Red, by Inch Brilliant. Her grand dam was a VG88 Blackisle Garve cow that produced more than 60tonnes of milk in her lifetime. Cameo Red headed up future neighbours, Messrs Irving, Drummore.
