Newton Stewart breeders Helen Ryman of the North Kildarroch herd and George and Isabel Milroy, Mains of Machermore, made their presence felt at a Belted Galloway sale at Skipton, buying the top priced bull at 5800gns.
The bull, Scaifehall Lorenzo, a two-year-old from Chris and Christine Ryder, Blubberhouses, was securing a second consecutive championship here for the duo and is by the same sire as their 2023 winner. Lorenzo is sired by Mochrum Lachlan, a 4000gns prize-winning junior purchase at Castle Douglas in 2019 that goes back to the 2015 Great Yorkshire Show champion, Clifton Hercules. The dam is Scaifehall Ivana, a Glen Elvis daughter.
Also selling north at 4000gns, Joe and Zan Kirk, Auldgirth, Dumfries, bought the senior bull Barwise Herdmaker, a three-year-old from Cumbrian breeder Carolyn Fletcher, Appleby. Herdmaker is a son of Barwise Jeorge and bred from a Whitepool Kite Mark-sired dam.
