Bullocks (1109) averaged 303.74p, with heifers (994) cashing in at 286.99p.

Limousin crosses led the heifers at 361.70p for a 470kg entry from Monzie, and to £1820 for a 598kg animal from Wester Kinloch.

Young bulls (66) averaged 258.74p and sold to 300.0p for a 405kg Charolais cross from Allanfauld, and to £1570 for a 630kg Beef Shorthorn cross from Mount Benger.

On the sheep front, Texel store hoggs made £180 for Outerston.

Carlisle

The Scott family of Gateside Farm, Linlithgow, secured the lead prices at Harrison and Hetherington's store cattle sale, with Limousin crosses with steers and heifers achieving £2120 and £2100 respectively.

A pair of Limousin bulls from Claycrop Farming, Newton Stewart, topped the weaned cattle at £1720.

Limousins also led the heifers and bullocks at £1480 from Messrs Devlin, Co Antrim, and to £1310 from Messrs Forster, Desoglin, respectively.

The weekly sale of calves reached £600 for a British Blue bull calf from Messrs Simpson, Waingate.

Heifers topped at £605 for more of the same breed from Messrs Reed, Mossid.

On Monday, the firm conducted its weekly sale of ewes and lambs which averaged £117.76, having sold to £202 per life for a single Texel gimmer with Beltex lambs from Neville and Alison Bainbridge, Laneside.

Hoggs topped at £172 a life from Messrs Carr, Highwood, who sold Texel hoggs with single lambs.

Topping the sale at £1880 was Aberdeen Angus bullocks from Carbieston Mains, and to 365p for Charolais from Maxwelston.

Charolais from Caprickhill, led the heifer trade at £1850 and 341p.

Store hoggs reached £168 for Texel crosses from A Dunlop, Ravenslie.

Ewes with lambs at foot peaked at £135 a life for Texel hoggets with single lambs from the Watson family at Muir.

On Tuesday, the firm sold 24 dairy cattle comprising of four in milk and 20 dairy heifers from Messrs Paton Auchleand.

Dairy cattle topped at £2000 on two separate occasions, both freshly calved Holstein Friesian heifers from Messrs Craig, Tannockhill.

Another large show of 155 calves and stirks sold to £1400 for a Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Barrie, Drumwhirn, whilst Hereford cross bullocks realised £1220 for Messrs Bruce, Watson.

Among the pence per kg section it was Limousin crosses that took the top spots, at 375p for a 240kg bullock from DJ MacGillivray, Pennygown, and to 378.8p for a pair of 264kg heifers from Messrs Troughton and Co, Ardachy.

Heifers and bullocks balanced out at 288.06p and 302.63p respectively.

Blackface hoggs from Musdale, made £160, whilst Suffolk ewes from Dalvuie, realised £160.
