Hoggs averaged 340p and sold to 413p for Blackfaces from Barlure Farmers Ltd and to £205 for Texels from A and F Baillie, Low Glasnick. Cast sheep sold to £150 for a Roussin cross from Caroline Wilson, Barlennan.

Dumfries

C and D Auctions had forward 220 hoggs at their sale averaging 381.71p per kg and selling to 421p for Cheviots from AC Martin, Horseholm. Price per head reached £200 for Millennium Bleu from Townpark. Cast sheep sold to £202 for a Bluefaced Leicester ram from Glenkiln. Prime cattle sold to 332p for a Limousin cross heifer from J Jardine, Yett. Cast cattle sold to £2242 or 236p for Limousin cross cows from Herries Farms, Lantonside.

Longtown

An entry of 2676 hoggs sold at the C and D Auctions sale averaging 383.2p per kg and selling to 519p for Beltex from TC Whiteford, Tercrosset, West Hall. Price per head reached £270 for Beltex from A Hoggan, Maryholm, Dumfries. Spring lambs (47) sold to 475p for Texels from R Johnston, Kimmeter Green, Annan and to £218 for Suffolks from I and J Barbour, Beechgrove, Annan. Cast sheep (2789) sold to £335 for a Texel ewe from Viewley Farms.

Stirling (UA)

United Auctions had forward 4719 sheep comprising of 4025 hoggs, 65 new season lambs and 694 cast sheep. Hoggs averaged 387.32p per kg and sold to 567p and £255 per head for Beltex from Easter Ochtermuthill. New season lambs averaged 416.02p and sold to 493p for Badger Face Texels from Greystone and to £225 for Charollais from Whitehouse. Cast sheep sold to £330 for Texel ewes from Langside.

Limousins topped the cattle trade at the Caledonian Marts sale. Heifers averaged 298.7p per kg and sold to 340p for a Limousin from A Pettigrew, Faskine, Airdrie and to £1930 for a Limousin from A Kennedy and Sons, Seggarsdean, Haddington. Bullocks averaged 285.56p and sold to 328p for a Limousin from AA and J Brand, Nethermyres, Auchtermuchty and to £2120 for a Bazadaise from T and E Tod, Nether Longford, West Calder. Cast cattle averaged 211p and sold to 246p or £2110 for an Aberdeen Angus from GR Aitken, Traprain. Hoggs averaged 363.19p and sold to 500p for a Texel from Braco Castle, Braco and to £216 for Texels from S and JE Andrew, Letter, Dunkeld. Some 1434 sheep forward at the Darlington Farmers Auction Mart sale comprising of 18 new season lambs, 1090 hoggs, and 326 cast sheep. Lambs sold to 490p per kg for a pen of 42kg lambs from I Hedley, Barnard Castle and to £220 per head for 52kg Suffolks from PJ Tindale, Preston Tilery Farm. Hoggs averaged 375p and sold to 458p for a pen of 40kg Beltex from PJ and MP Gilhespy, Low House, Ponteland. Price per head reached £230 for a Texel from C Moralee and Sons, Blackburn Farm, Langley Park. Cast sheep sold to £280 for a Texel from T Nesbitt and Son, Alwent Hall. Heifers (101) sold to 354p for a 516kg Limousin from Askwiths of Low Mown Meadows, Crook and to £2067 for a British Blue from WJ Scott Ltd, West Woodburn, Low Leam. New season lambs (179) sold to £275 for Texels from A and MJ Trafford, Bassenthwaite Hall, Wigton. Price per kg sold to 540.5p for Texels from A and A Bell, Thethwaite, Wigton. Cast sheep sold to £350 for Texel ewes from Ballymena Road. Bullocks sold to £2327.85 for a 767kg Limousin cross from Messrs Studholme, Nealhouse, Carlisle. Price per kg sold to 312.5p for Limousins from both Messrs Bowe, Bothel Parks, Wiston and Messrs Nicholson, The Lake. Lawrie and Symington had forward 2009 hoggs and 1019 cast sheep at their sale on Monday. Hoggs averaged 372p per kg and sold to 485p for Beltex from Messrs Hamilton, Mid Shawtonhill Farm and to £248 per head for a Texel from Messrs Gibb, Toftcombs Farm. Cast sheep sold to £308 for Texel ewes from Messrs Kennedy, Mitchellhill Farm. Limousin heifers sold to 348p and to £2226 from Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie. Limousin bullocks sold to 335p from the same home and to £1720 from West Backs farm, Campbeltown. Cast cows sold to £1870 or 226p from Cardon Farm, Biggar.

Ayr

Some 1858 sheep went through the ring at the Craig Wilson sale with 1588 hoggs averaging 380p per kg and sold to 469p for a pair of Beltex from Messrs Blair Stevenson, Drumburle. Price per head sold to £255 for a pen of Texels from Messrs Murdoch, Fleminghall. Cast sheep (270) sold to £307 for a Texel ewe from Drumburle. Eight heifers averaged 295.12p and sold to 320p for a Limousin from Borland. Two bullocks averaged 317.5p selling to 320p for a Limousin from the Thomson Family, Blairbowie. Cast cattle sold to £1860 for an Aberdeen Angus cow from Clauchrie.

Huntly

Old season lambs (1078) averaged 345p per kg at the United Auctions sale and sold to 391p for a 46kg Texel from Allaloth, Clochan. Price per head sold to £199 for both a 60kg Texel cross from Jacobshall, Gamrie and a 63.3kg Texel from Upper Wheedlemont, Rhynie. Nine new season lambs averaged 385p and sold to 405p and £178 for 44kg Texels from Uppermill, Turriff. Cast ewes sold to £275 for a Texel from Corskie, Garmouth.

Dingwall

Dingwall and Highland Marts had forward 1408 sheep with 886 old season lambs averaging 351.54p per kg and selling to 458p for a pen of 38kg Beltex cross from Barrogill Mains, Mey. Price per head sold to £228 for a pair of 61kg Texel crosses from Blinkbonny, Nairn. Cast sheep (522) sold to £250 for a Texel ewe from Keepers Cottage, Corrybrough. Bullocks (11) averaged 296.26p and sold to 306p and £1932.25 for Limousin crosses from Udale, Poyntzfield. Two heifers averaged 299.66p and sold to 310p and £1876.95 for Limousin crosses from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall.

Castle Douglas

Some 360 hoggs averaged 367.47p per kg at the Wallets Marts sale on Tuesday. Top price was £243 per head for Texels from Douganhill Farms and 429.3p for Mill Bleu from Messrs McDermid, Waterside. New season lambs (24) sold to £211 for Zwartbles and to 423.5p for Suffolks both from Messrs Brodie, High Boreland. Cast sheep (338) sold to £277 for Texel ewes from Messrs Hair and Brewis, Drumbreddan.

Kirkby Stephen

Harrison and Hetherington had forward 4131 sheep comprising of 3165 hoggs, 62 spring lambs, and 904 cast sheep. Hoggs sold to £290 per head and 561.5p per kg for Beltex crosses from J Andrews, Boscar Flats, York. Spring lambs sold to £229 for a pen of 48kg Suffolk crosses and to 497.6p for a pen of 41kg Texel crosses both from Messrs Lyle, Staingills, Penrith.
