Cast sheep sold to £160 for a Beltex cross ewe from J Wright, Dinmurchie.

Dumfries

Texels topped the trade at the C and D Auctions Marts’ sale at £220 and 442p from H Hamlet, Garloff.

Cast sheep sold to £198 for a Charollais tup from Millantae.

Longtown

An entry of 6676 sheep sold at the C and D Auction Marts’ sale saw 3884 hoggs average 386.5p per kg, having sold to 467p from MJ Lawson, Pasture House, Wigton, or £300 for Texels from H Cockburn and Partners, Kingside, Peebles.

Cast sheep reached £305 for Texel ewes from BS Forrester, Green Hill Head.

Cast cattle sold to 216p for a Simmental cow from Dunach Estate, Oban and to £1206 for a Whitebred from M Welter, Kernal Rigg, Roweltown.

Stirling (UA)

United Auctions sold 6817 sheep with 5927 hoggs averaging 380.41p per kg having sold to 532p for Beltex from Easter Ochtermuthill, or £266 for Texels from Kinnaird.

New season lambs (27) averaged 412.66p and sold to 457p or £238 for Charollais from Langside.

Cast sheep hit a top of £305 for Texel ewes from Townhead.

Stirling (Cally)

Bullocks and heifers averaged 280p and 294p per kg respectively at Caledonian Marts’ sale, with the former selling to 310p or £2170 per head for a Limousin from AA and J Brand, Nethermyres, Auchtermuchty.

Heifers reached 330p for a Limousin from Nethermyres and to £2055 for a British Blue from D Nelson, Cuttlehill, Crossgates.

Young bulls sold to 285p for a British Blue cross from L Laird and Sons, Lochhead and to £1915 for an Aberdeen Angus from J Cameron, Gartvaigh, Southend, Campbeltown.

Cast cattle averaged 197.51p and sold to 241p or £1770 from J and M Drysdale, Kinnesswood.

On Tuesday, hoggs averaged 354.54p having sold to 457p and £220 for Texels from I Murrie, Meadowfield Farm and S and JE Andrew, Letter Farm respectively.

Cast sheep sold to £235 for a Texel cross ewe from HT Shanks, Easter Cash, Strathmiglo.

Thainstone

Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 4398 sheep at their sale with 3835 hoggs averaging 389p, selling to 459.3p for 43kg Beltex from Pitgersie, Ellon, or £240 for Texels from both Longhill, Crimond and Clinterty, New Aberdour.

New season lambs (21) averaged 458.8p and sold to 538.1p or £226 for 42kg Charollais from Meiklebogs, Gordonstown.

Cast sheep reached £284.50 for a Texel ewe from Clinterty.

Bullocks (31) sold to 313p for a 555kg Limousin cross from New Mains, Glenkindie and to £2244.60 for an 860kg Charolais cross from Daies, Wardhouse.

Heifers (35) sold to 309p for a 560kg Limousin cross from Auchmaliddie Mains, Maud and to £1966.85 for a 695kg Charolais from Chapelford, Buckie.

Three young bulls sold to 274p or £1781 for a 650kg Charolais from Tillenturk, Torphins and cast cattle reached £2170 for a 970kg Limousin bull from Easter Clune, Lethen.

St Boswells

The 1107 hoggs sold at the Harrison and Hetherington’s sale levelled at 380p with top prices of 465p and £251 paid for Beltex from JR Walton, Grange Moor.

Cast sheep sold to £228 for a Charollais ewe from J Neill and Son, Runningburn.

Bullocks (45) averaged 298p having sold to 332p from Penston and to £2230 from Bee Edge.

Heifers (76) averaged 295p and sold to 342p from Bee Edge and to £2120.40 from Whitsome West Newton.

Cast cattle (12) averaged 191p and sold to 250p or £1883 for cows from Upper Nisbet.

Carlisle

Some 3065 sheep sold at the Harrison and Hetherington’s sale saw 2128 hoggs average 400.91p, selling to 552.6p for Beltex from Bowsden Moor Farm or £252 for Texel crosses from Messrs Neill, Upper Tinwald, Dumfries.

New season lambs sold to £245 or 605p for Beltex from Messrs Musgrave, Cardew Hall, Dalston.

Cast sheep reached £280 for Blue Texels from Messrs Watson, Millrigg, Wigton and for Texels from Messrs Donaldson, East Park, Thursby.

Bullocks sold to £2288.30 for a 723kg Limousin cross from Messrs Studholme, Nealhouse, Carlisle or to 316.5p for the same beast alongside a Limousin from Messrs Nicholson, The Lake.

Heifers reached £2063 or 323.5p for a 638kg Limousin from Messrs Mitchell, Mirkbooths, Carlisle.

Young bulls (56) sold to £2368.11 for an 818kg Limousin cross from Messrs Cooper, Hallmoor, Carlisle or to 317.5p twice for Limousins from Messrs Hird, West End, Cockermouth.

Cast cattle (221) averaged 206.5p having sold to £1964 for a Limousin cross cow from Messrs Steel, Steeley Farm and to 261.5p for a British Blue cow from Messrs Livingstone, Kirtlevale.

Lanark

Lawrie and Symington had 110 cattle at their sale comprising 30 prime and 80 cast cows.

Clean cattle sold to 342p per kg and £2189 for a Limousin heifer from Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie.

Beef cows reached £1990 for a Simmental from Browntod Farm, Hamilton and to 245p for Limousin cross from Gateside Farm, Linlithgow.

Some 2193 hoggs averaged 359p with top prices of 458p for Beltex from Messrs Laird, Yeldabrek Farm, Burray and £247 for a Texel from Messrs Gibson, Cowgrove Farm, Galston, paid.

Cast sheep (1058) averaged £120.53 and sold to £295 for Texel ewes from Messrs Campbell, Strawfrank Farm, Carstairs Junction.

Ayr

An entry of 1885 sheep was forward for Craig Wilson’s sale on Monday where 1589 hoggs averaged 267.4p per kg having sold to 449p for Beltex from Messrs Robertson, Creochhill.

Top price per head was £218 paid for Beltex from Messrs Stevenson, Balcaimie and Texels from Messrs Robb, Chalmerston, Messrs Seton, Rushaw, and Messrs Heads, Aitkenhead.

Cast sheep (296) sold to £239 for a Beltex cross tup from W Young Ltd, Skerrington Mains.

On Tuesday, heifers (13) averaged 310.54p and sold to 337p for a Limousin cross from J Young, Lanemark, New Cumnock with bullocks to 310p for a Limousin cross from the same home.

Cast cattle (80) reached £2000 for an Aberdeen Angus from G Templeton, Knowe.

Dingwall

Dingwall and Highland Marts sold 522 sheep, with 312 old season lambs averaging 345.6p per kg having sold to 387p for 46kg Texel crosses from Pitcalnie Holdings, Nigg or to £218 for a 65.5kg Texel cross from Easter Dalziel, Dalcross.

Cast sheep sold to £248 for Texel cross ewes from Woodend, Killearnan.

Castle Douglas

Texels topped Wallets Marts’ sale on Tuesday where 411 hoggs sold to £257 per head from Messrs Armstrong, Farhills and to 412.7p per kg from Messrs Sproat, Lennox Plunton. Hoggs averaged 355.34p.

Cast sheep (234) sold to £239 for a Texel tup from Messrs McMurray, Lagg Farm.

Kirkby Stephen

At Harrison and Hetherington's sale on Tuesday evening, some 2640 hoggs sold to average 404.64p per kg having sold to 611.5p and £250 for Beltex crosses from Messrs Phillips, Fir Tree Farm, Harrogate.

Cast sheep (717) reached £302 for Texel ewes from H and B Wharton, Galloper Rise, Tebay.
