Although prices were again softer than many sales throughout much of 2023, the late October dairy event at Skipton Auction Mart saw a dozen quality milkers forward with all finding new homes.

Paul, Janet, and James Bowland continued on their winning streak securing both the champion and reserve in the pre-show sale. Their consignment of eight was the seventh instalment sold through the fortnightly sales as part of their ongoing dispersal.

The champion, by Claynook Fransisco, was less than a month calved and sold giving 28 litres per day for the top price of £2000 to M and K Goodall. In reserve was a Boghill Glamour Skeletor daughter purchased by A Townsend for £1700.

Leading the cow trade was a second calver from the Bowlands by Glamour Boghill Victor. A red ticket-holder at the pre-sale show and giving 30 litres, she was the first of two purchased by J Howard, for £1620, with a Pine Tree Verona heifer on 27 litres accompanying her at £1780.

Robert and Ellie Crisp sold fresh heifers by the Genus sire Charming, at £1700 and £1650, both of which were purchased by M and K Goodall.

James, Janet, and Percy Bolland from Airton consigned another batch of quality milkers as part of their ongoing dispersal. They were victorious in securing the top three placings in the heifer in milk class too, with the lead honours presented to a Pine Tree London-sired heifer, giving 27kg per day. She sold for the top price of £2000 to Alf Townsend. The four fresh heifers from the Bolland family averaged £1730.

Robert Crisp sold a heifer giving 30litres a day to John Howard, Gargrave, for £1800.
