Some 908 prime hoggs averaged 232p per kg through Craig Wilson Marts having sold to a top of £135 for Texels from RVCM Agro, Airyolland or to 253.9p for Beltex from Barquhill Farming Co.
Cast sheep peaked at £130 for a Beltex ewe from R McKnight, Coriedoon, with rams to £116 for a Bluefaced Leicester from Minuntion and Pinclanty Farms.
Dumfries
AT C and D Auction Marts opening sale of 2023, OTMs cashed in at 182p having sold to a top of £1621.50 and 230p for a Simmental from Newbie Mains.
The 756 prime hoggs balanced out at 243.5p with prices reaching £126 for Texels from Newmains or to 276p for more of the same from Muirside.
Texels from Rigghead led the cast ewes at £162, with tups to £170 for more from Newmains.
Stirling (Cale)
All classes of prime cattle sold well at Caledonian Marts’ sale, with heifers averaging 274p having sold to 325p and £1905 for a Limousin from M Jack, Carriston, Star of Markinch.
Bullocks peaked at 295p for a Limousin from J Collier and Son, Dullomuir, Blairadam or £1951 for a Limousin from J and N Kerr, Bankhead, Aberdour, to level at 267p.
Dairy bulls sold to 222p and £1281 for a Fleckvieh from R Nelson, Blairmains, Culross, whilst OTMs averaged 193p with top prices of 246p and £2120 for a Limousin from WI and AW Callion, Bolfornought.
Dairy cows reached 178p from W Waugh, North Bankhead and to £1330 from RM Reid, Glen, to balance out at 155p.
On Tuesday, 972 hoggs levelled at 228.76p with prices reaching a high of £158 for Texels from AM Connon and Sons, Skilmafilly, Ellon or 313p for more of the same from A A and J Brand, Nethermyres, Auchtermuchty.
Cast sheep were topped at £250 for a Texel ewe from JAC Stewart, Kinninmonth, Fife.
Stirling (UA)
Texels and Beltex from West Park and Doune Farms led United Auctions’ sale of hoggs, where 3339 head peaked at £136 and 302p, respectively, to level at 226.7p.
Blinkbonny topped the 1414 cast ewes with Texels making £288, whilst tups sold to £156 for another of the same from West Park.
Thainstone
Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ sale of bullocks averaged 257.7p having sold to 275p on two occasions – for a 580kg Charolais cross from Ardgathen Croft, Alford and for a 710kg Limousin cross from Kirkhill, Gartly or to £2169.75 for a 825kg Limousin cross from Ladymill, Alford.
Heifers cashed in at 263.7p after peaking at 307p for a 590kg Limousin cross from Stoneyhill, Keith-Hall or to £1911.30 for a 690kg Charolais cross from Blackhillock, Millbrex, whilst young bulls sold to 274p for a 755kg Limousin from Doonby, Glassel and £2544.30 for a 990kg Limousin from Easterside, Dunnottar.
In the cast ring, finished beef cows balanced out at £1678.83 having been topped at £2210 for a 1018kg Simmental from Upper Woodside, Rothiemay, whilst feeding beef cows averaged £1265.90 selling to £1650 for a 770kg Limousin cross from Carbrotack, Cairnie.
The 1868 hoggs sold to 279.3p per kg for 41kg Beltex from 52 Conval Street, Dufftown and £122 for 51kg Beltex crosses from Newton of Lewesk, Old Rayne, to level at 221p.
Feeding sheep averaged £96.32 and achieved £250 for Texels from 2 Earlsfield Cottage, Kennethmont.
Darlington
Trade was a flier at Darlington Farmers Auction Mart’s weekly sale, where 95 bulls were topped by a 755kg Limousin from AC Simpson and Son, McNeil Farm, Witton-le-Wear or £2557 for a 864kg 21-month-old British Blonde from P Weightman and Sons, Hallfield Farm, Easington.
Heifers and steers levelled at 278p and 266p, respectively, with the former reaching 320p and £2028 for a 571kg Limousin from Renton Highlaws, Morpeth.
A 853kg Limousin from KJ and SS Bell, West Throphill, Mitford led the steers at £2115 or to 306p from Renton Highlaws.
The 1481 hoggs balanced out at 244p having been topped at £145 for a 49kg Texel from AS Whitfield, Knitsley or to 328p for 41kg Beltex from W Ramsay and Sons, Wingate.
Cast ewes attained £150 for a Texel from PM and FM Hill, Old Hall Farm.
Longtown
The 4352 hoggs forward at C and D Auction Marts’ sale, saw prices reach £169 for Texels from J Connell Farms, Wanton Walls, Lauder or 318p for Beltex from R Neill, Upper Tinwald, Dumfries, to average 240.1p.
The 2510 cast ewes and rams were topped at £242 for Texel ewes from A C Clark, Fine View, Glenluce, with rams to £230 for Suffolks from GS Shaw and Co., Smailholm Mains, Kelso.
