Almost 50% of the bulls forward for the Border and Lakeland Holstein Club achieved more than £3000 staged through Harrison and Hetherington, which was coupled with a top price of 6000gns.
The British Friesian bull, Whinnow President, secured the lead price for I and GM Blamire, Wigton, when selling to the Neill family, Mindrum, Northumberland. This two-year-old bull is a son of Deangate Centurion and bred from a line of show cows, with his dam being the Ex94 daughter Morcourt Hilton, Lismulligan Priscilla which was the UK’s top producing British Friesian in 2018 and 2021.
Matthew Armour, The Milton, Moffat, witnessed a top call of 5900gns for Annandale Santiago, which found a new home in Cumbria with Messrs Mattocks, Laithes, Penrith. This Holstein boy is sired by Annandale Kraft and bred from production cows that gave 14,000kgs at 4.69BF and 3.96P.
The same home sold their November 2020 born bull, Annandale Kingsman for 5800gns to Messrs Adams, Kirkcolm, Stranraer, Wigtownshire. This boy is the result of the Monument Impression sire onto the VG89 dam Annandale Wyoming Kimberley.
Next best at 5500gns was the rising Holstein yearling bull, Warnelview Rocky 2 from KJ and CS Wilson, Wood Farm, Thursby, Carlisle, which now travels across the Irish Sea with Messrs Murphy, Ballyward, County Down. A Peak LC AltaCordial son he is out of Warnelview Iota Ruby, which is Ex 93.
Warnelview Neymar also made his mark for the same home when selling for 5000gns to Messrs Johnston and Sons, Slamannan Road, Falkirk. This yearling Holstein bull is the result of the Wilder Dalliance sire onto the Ex97 dam, Warnelview Final Cut Nita.
Aberdeenshire breeders, Messrs Meredith, Strichen, purchased the next best for the same home at 4500gns. This boy came in the form of the 13-month-old, Warnelview Resin, which is sired by Claynook Duplo, out of the Bomaz Skywalker daughter, Warnelview Skywalker Ruby.
The best from Ian Brockett, Park of Barnaigh, Kilbarchan, Johnstone, made 5000gns coming in the form of the British Frisian bull, Winnoch Marshall. This July 2020 born bull is a son of Beaufort Kabana, out of Winnock Penguin and was knocked down to Messrs Howard, Sough Lane, Guide, Blackburn Lancashire.
The overall champion went to the British Friesian September 2020 born bull, Nerewater Ged, which went on to secure 4600gns for Richard Bell, Nerewater, Saltcoats, Kirkbride, Wigton. A Nerewater Jackpot son he is out of Nerewater Gwennie and was purchased by Messrs Ward and Sons, Slyne, Lancaster.
