DEMAND for Aberdeen-Angus cattle was again strong at the fifth Aberdeen-Angus Group sale staged at Wertingen, Germany, where a complete clearance was witnessed.

The sale, which attracted a number of Scottish and English-bred cattle, saw a German-bred animal top the trade when Donaumoos Prince P086, from Bernard Delle, Germany, made €6900 selling to Romanian breeders, Brogdan Bros.

Born in December 2014, this bull is by the herd's senior stock sire Donaumoos Lord Zorro J602, and out of an HF Tiger 5T daughter of Canadian-bred Young Dale Pollyanna 22P.

Perthshire's Highland Wagyu, Blackford, Dunblane, produced the next best seller at €6500, when HW Augustus R547 was purchased by the Grundhuf herd in Luxembourg. The breeding behind this transaction includes Netherton Mr Rader J527 on to Netherton Annie H474.

Heifers peaked at €4900 for Donaumoos Lady Blossom R147, again from Bernard Delle. This 12-month-old is by another bull from a Te Mania embryo, Donaumoos Master United K866, and out of an SAV Heritage daughter from the Belvin Lady Blossom 64'04 line. She heads for an embryo flushing programme with Peter Nagy, Romania.

Cornwall breeder, Mark Pilcher, produced the second highest priced heifer in Gear Miss Bridie R343, which made €3900. This Netherton Big Ben M656 daughter is out of a home-bred Netherton Archie J501 daughter.
