The National Farmers' Union (NFU) Cymru organised a display of 5,500 wellies outside the Welsh parliament.
Organisers say the wellies are to represent projected job-losses from agriculture caused by proposed Welsh farm support reforms.
Two of the key concerns are the requirement for farmers to turn over 10% of land to tree cover and 10% earmarked for natural habitat.
